What's Included

Flat Tire Repair Services

🔧

Flat Tire Patch Repair

Proper inside patch repair: tire dismounted, interior inspected for damage, patched from the inside to seal the liner completely, remounted, and rebalanced. Industry-standard repair, not a plug.

🔧

Valve Stem Replacement

A cracked or leaking valve stem is a common cause of slow leaks. We replace the stem when the tire is dismounted for a repair, or as a standalone service on a leaking stem.

Wheel Balancing After Repair

Every tire that is removed and remounted is rebalanced before it goes back on the vehicle. Remounting shifts the tire's position on the wheel and changes the balance.

🔧

Tire Replacement

When a repair is not possible - sidewall puncture, driven-flat damage, or tread that is too worn - we replace the tire with the correct size and load rating for your vehicle.

Flat Tire Repair in Garden City - The Right Way

The plug-vs-patch distinction matters for safety. An external plug - the kind done in two minutes without removing the tire - fills the hole from the outside but does not seal the tire's inner liner. That liner is the airtight membrane on the inside of the tire carcass, and it is what actually holds the air. A plug that does not reach and seal the liner means air can still migrate into the tire's body through the unsealed liner hole. Over time, moisture also enters through the steel belt layers, which leads to belt separation and potential blowout - the worst possible outcome of a repair that seemed to work fine.

A proper inside-out patch seals the liner completely and fills the hole in the tread. It requires dismounting the tire, cleaning the area, applying the patch from the inside, and then remounting and rebalancing. It takes longer than a plug. It costs more than a plug. But it is a permanent repair that leaves the tire as structurally sound as it was before the puncture, and it is what we do on every flat tire that comes through Broadway Servicenter in Garden City, NY.

If the tire is not repairable - sidewall puncture, driven flat, severely worn tread, or internal damage visible once it is dismounted - we tell you that clearly and give you options for replacement. Nassau County potholes produce a lot of flat tires, including sidewall punctures that look like they might be repairable from the outside but are not. We check the interior of every tire before recommending a repair. Call (516) 681-0122 and come in - we will take care of it while you wait.

FAQ
Flat Tire Repair FAQ
Can a flat tire be repaired or does it need to be replaced?
A flat tire can usually be repaired if the puncture is in the tread area (not the sidewall or shoulder), is smaller than 1/4 inch in diameter, and the tire has not been driven flat to the point of sidewall damage. If those conditions are met, a proper inside-out patch repair is safe and cost-effective. If the puncture is in the sidewall, if the tire was driven flat, or if there is significant tread wear or structural damage, the tire needs to be replaced. We tell you honestly which situation you are in.
What is the difference between a plug and a patch?
An external plug is inserted through the tread from the outside without removing the tire from the wheel. It fills the hole but does not seal the inner liner of the tire - the liner is the airtight membrane that actually holds the air. A plug also does not protect the steel belt layers from moisture entering through the hole in the tread. A proper inside-out patch seals the inner liner and fills the hole in the tread completely. Industry standard - and our practice at Broadway Servicenter - is patch repair, not plug-only.
How long does flat tire repair take?
A proper flat tire repair - dismounting the tire, patching from the inside, remounting, and balancing - typically takes 30 to 45 minutes. It takes longer than a plug repair done without removing the tire, but it is the correct repair. We do flat repairs while you wait at Broadway Servicenter in Garden City, NY.
Can you repair a tire that was driven flat?
It depends on how far and how fast it was driven on. A tire driven flat even a short distance can sustain internal sidewall damage that is not visible from the outside. The sidewall flexes under the full weight of the vehicle with no air pressure to support it, and that flexing breaks down the rubber and fabric internally. We inspect the interior of the tire when it is dismounted. If there is internal damage, the tire needs to be replaced for safety reasons - a tire with internal sidewall damage can fail without warning at highway speed.
Can you repair a tire with a nail in the sidewall?
No. Sidewall punctures are not repairable - the flex forces on the sidewall during normal driving are too high for any patch to hold reliably. A repair that holds at rest will fail under the sidewall flex at highway speed. A nail in the sidewall means tire replacement, and we will tell you that directly. We do not attempt sidewall repairs and we do not recommend trusting any shop that says they can repair a sidewall puncture.
