All headlights, taillights, turn signals, brake lights, and emergency flashers are tested and verified.
We inspect tie rods, ball joints, shocks, struts, and steering components for wear and safe operation.
Tire tread depth, sidewall condition, and wheel fastener torque are checked during every inspection.
We check your windshield for cracks, wiper blade condition, and washer fluid operation.
No appointment needed for most NYS inspections. Come in Monday through Saturday and we will get you through quickly.
As a registered New York State inspection station, Broadway Servicenter performs both the safety and emissions components of the annual inspection. The safety inspection checks your braking system (pad thickness, rotor condition, parking brake), steering and suspension components, tires (tread depth and inflation), all exterior lights, horn, windshield wipers and washers, mirrors, and the structural integrity of the body and frame. For 1996 and newer vehicles, the emissions component reads your OBD-II system for active or pending fault codes and confirms the system is ready for testing.
The most common reasons vehicles fail NYS inspection are worn brake pads or failing emissions readiness monitors. If your check engine light is on, your vehicle will fail the emissions test. If you know you have an outstanding check engine light, call us at (516) 681-0122 before your inspection. We can diagnose the issue, complete the necessary engine repair, and in many cases get you inspected and out the door the same day. Similarly, if you suspect your brakes are marginal, we offer a free brake inspection before the formal test.
Many drivers reset their check engine light hoping it will not return before inspection. The OBD-II readiness monitors take 50 to 200 miles of driving to complete after a reset. If the monitors are not complete, the vehicle will fail. There is no shortcut. If your vehicle failed inspection elsewhere and you want a second opinion on the required repairs, bring it to us. We will give you an honest assessment and a fair quote with no pressure.
