FAQ
Porsche FAQ
What can Broadway Servicenter do for my Porsche?
We handle oil service (correct Porsche-spec oil for each engine), brake service (pads, rotors, calipers), tire installation and rotation, wheel alignment, air suspension diagnosis on Cayenne and Panamera, NYS inspections, IMS bearing discussion for older 987 Boxster and Cayman, and standard mechanical maintenance. We are honest about what we can do and what requires Porsche dealer equipment.
What Porsche repairs require the dealer?
For Porsche, proprietary software diagnostics (PASM active suspension calibration, PDCC system calibration, full system adaptations), warranty-covered repairs, and specialized suspension recalibration that requires Porsche's PIWIS diagnostic system are best handled at a dealer. Broadway handles maintenance, brakes, tires, oil service, cooling, standard diagnostics, and IMS bearing service on older models.
What is the Porsche IMS bearing issue?
Older 987-generation Boxster and Cayman (approximately 2005-2012) with the M96 or M97 flat-six engine have a documented intermediate shaft bearing failure risk. The IMS bearing can fail without warning, causing catastrophic engine damage. If you own one of these models and the IMS bearing has not been inspected or upgraded, this is a priority service item before a failure occurs.
Does Porsche brake service need to be done at the dealer?
No. Brake service - pads, rotors, calipers, and brake fluid - does not require Porsche's proprietary software. We handle brake service on Cayenne, Macan, Panamera, Boxster, and Cayman. Porsche brakes wear faster than nearly any other vehicle we service, so regular inspection is especially important.
How often do Porsche brakes need service?
More often than most vehicle owners expect. Cayenne brakes wear quickly due to the vehicle's weight combined with performance-spec brake pads. Boxster and Cayman brakes wear quickly if driven enthusiastically. We check brake condition at every service on Porsche vehicles and notify owners before wear reaches a point where rotors are damaged.
What warranty covers Porsche repairs at Broadway?
All repair work is backed by a 6-month or 6,000-mile warranty on parts and labor, whichever comes first.
